There are many, many local street markets. So many in fact that, if you have the stamina, you can visit more than one market in the same day.
Saturday
- Santa Pola
- Almoradi
- Playa Flamenca (morning) - Go through Los Dolses to the AP-7 roundabout and take the new, straight road to Via Park and park somewhere along the new road OR go out onto the N332 and turn left (north). Come off right at the next junction then go UNDER the roadway as if you were going to the Supermercado on the LEFT. Park in the supermercado car park. Follow everyone else into the housing estate. Beat the crowds by getting there around 09:30. Good for clothes and household items.
Sunday
- Pilar de la Horadada
- Campo de Guardamar
- Algorfa
- Urbanisation La Marina
- 'Zoco' also known as 'Lemon Tree Lane' market, near Quesada / Los Montesinos (morning) - Makes big markets look small! Has one area for shopping and another for refreshments, plus a local bodegas - in a shed!! Heading north from Torrevieja on the N332, take the left turning signposted Los Montesinos before you reach Guardamar. About half a mile along, turn left into the lemon groves (it is not signposted, but you'll see plenty of vehicles entering and exiting). Highly recommended.
Monday
Santa Pola
San Pedro del Pinatar (morning) - Go out onto the N332 and turn right (south). Continue on the N332 for 15-20km until you get to the San Pedro exit. (it has a fishing boat in the middle of the roundabout!). The main road in San Pedro is very straight and has orange lights flashing everywhere. Don't go too far into San Pedro but park somewhere on the left or right. The market runs parallel to the main road off to the right. It's easy to find and is good for clothes and fresh food. If you want fresh fruit and veg then arrive before 11:00 otherwise there will be none left!
Tuesday
- Alicante
- Orihuela
- Benijofar
- San Fulgencio
Wednesday
- Algorfa
- Guardamar
- La Mata
- Torre De La Horadada
- San Miguel de Salinas (morning)
Thursday
- Cabo Roig
- Alicante
- Rojales
- Bigastro
- San Javier
- Urbanisation La Marina
Friday
- Dolores
- Los Montesinos
- Torrevieja (morning) - Go out onto the N332 and turn left (north) and carry on into Torrevieja (south). Park wherever you can (there's an underground car park as well as a normal one near the marina). Do NOT illegally park in the town on market day as you will get a ticket and be towed away within a few minutes (any other day is fine!). The market is quite hard to find the first time but it's towards the North of the town and away from the sea. It is the largest market in the area and is excellent for everything, particularly clothes. It will be packed by late morning.
- Los Montesinos (late afternoon) - Small market, mainly for the locals but has some different stalls compared to the other, larger markets.
- El Pilar de la Horadada (morning) - This is the best fruit and veg market in the area. Go out onto the N332 and turn right (south). Stay on the N332 for about 15km until you reach the Pilar exit. Go west (away from the sea) into Pilar and park by the side of the main road soon after entering the town. Then walk further into the town and turn left down one of the side roads where you'll find the market.
